Northern suburbs in the Geelong region, Victoria

(Lara, Norlane and Corio areas), Victoria – Geelong has been acquainted with the CTC process since involvement in the Smart Generation trial in 2011.

In 2014 Geelong received funding from the Department of Justice and Regulation to support the roll-out of the CTC process in the northern suburbs of Lara, Norlane and Corio, and this area became a registered CTC site in 2015, auspiced by Barwon Child, Youth and Family.  CTC Geelong has 16 Partner Organisations and is currently undertaking a second cycle of the CTC process – the focus remains on reducing early age alcohol use and parental supply, improving family relationships to reduce family conflict and improving school engagement and school commitment.  In 2017 we saw a 31% reduction in alcohol sales to young people without ID, a 22% increase in year 8 students to discuss rules for alcohol use with parents, 33 families participated in the Strengthening Family Connections Program, and 11 families participated in the Lara Education Transition Program.
