City of Yarra, Victoria

Communities That Care Yarra is a community-led effort based at the City of Yarra and made up of over 24 local partner agencies. The partners work closely with schools and focus on supporting the healthy development of children and young people aged 8 to 14 across the City of Yarra.

Geelong Region, Victoria

Communities That Care Geelong is a long running project based at the large Meli family and community service agency. Schools work with community partners to measurably reduce alcohol use and related problems.

Eurobodalla, NSW

Communities That Care Eurobodalla is based at the Campbell Page community service agency. Schools are working in a community partnership to complete a large youth survey, which is being used to inform a strategy to reduce youth alcohol use and improve mental health.

Maitland, NSW

Communities That Care Maitland is facilitated by the Department of Regional NSW. Schools are working in a regional partnership to complete a large youth survey, which is being used to inform regional, community and school strategies to enhance positive youth development.

Prevention Research Centre

Since the mid-90s, the Prevention Research Centre at Penn State University has conducted evaluative research on CTC in Pennsylvania with the support of the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).

The Social Development Research Group (SDRG)

The Social Development Research Group (SDRG) at the University of Washington is a centre of CTC expertise and knowledge.

Past Sites


Cardinia, Victoria

Two local schools from the Cardinia community initially participated in the Smart Generation Trial in 2011.

Alpine, Victoria

CTC Alpine, formerly CTC Myrtleford, has been operating since 2009 and is currently completing Phase 5 in its second cycle of the CTC process.

Colac, Victoria

CTC Colac was launched in February 2015. Colac CTC was formed in February 2017, Colac Area Health is the auspice agency and has employed a community coordinator to guide the CTC process for the Colac community.

East Gippsland, Victoria

CTC East Gippsland is currently undertaking Phase 5 of the CTC process to implement, monitor and evaluate evidence based programs.

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

In 2002, CTC Mornington Peninsula received six years of state funding to begin a pilot of the Communities That Care process across the shire.

Hobsons Bay, Victoria

Communities That Care Hobsons Bay helps children and young people thrive through programs and initiatives that have been shown to work. It achieves this by building the capability of the community, coordinating evidence-based activities, and strengthening collaborative partnerships.

Stonnington, Victoria

CTC Stonnington was established in 2016 with a focus on priority areas such as reducing adolescent alcohol intake, and improving family functioning and school engagement.

City of Knox, Victoria

CTC Knox is currently undertaking Phase 5 of the CTC process to implement, monitor and evaluate evidence based programs.

Mandurah, Western Australia

CTC Mandurah is working towards commencing Phase 3 to collect and collate data to develop a Community Profile report.

Warrnambool, Victoria

Warrnambool became a registered CTC site in 2015 with the assistance of funding from the Department of Justice and Regulation to support the roll-out of CTC.
